3 Traditional Quechuan Initiations

One every two years. These are the Lightning Initiations, as taught by Q’ero P’aqo (Peruvian Shaman), Don Sebastian Succlle Apaza, to Dr Owen Roberts, PhD, over an eight year period in the early 2000’s. It incorporates training in other techniques taught to us by P’aqos in the villages of Inca Patiti and the Ausangate Region of the Peruvian Andes.

The three Lightning Initiations are:

  1. The Initiation of Compassion, known in Quechuan as the “Munay Karpay.” This connects you to the earth and opens the heart chakra.
  2. The Initiation of Power, the Yanqay Karpay.” This brings immense shamanic power.
  3. The Initiation of Wisdom, the “Yachay Karpay”. The Yachay Karpay opens channels of wisdom and communication to the Great Beings of the Cosmos.

The Lightning Path consists of two training years beween initiations.

If you are actively working as a psychotherapist, this will give you the ability to discuss your shamanic work in the language of science, and backed by empirical research. This course will incorporate the latest advances in science.

This course provides an overview of the world’s main religions through lectures, reading holy scriptures, spiritual exercises, and shamanic exploration. It will also explore philosophies and moralities within the Quechuan shamanic traditions, and what they offer to the modern world.

The Initiation of Wisdom, the “Yachay Karpay.”

“This initiation is not for everyone, only if you feel ready and are going to use them to grow and to heal others.” – Don Sebastian, 3rd Dec, 2006.

Timing

Don Sebastian taught that there should be a minimum period of at least two years between initiations, in order to allow each to work its full transformation on you.

The Initiation

Your P’aqo will create a set of despachos. Each one has a special function during the initiation. You are taken to a fire outside. After your P’aqo has used each of the despachos on you, you are left alone. During this time, the various spirits of Lightning and certain other Cosmic Powers will visit you and initiate you. Afterwards the P’aqo will return and use some of the other despachos to help your energy system absorb the massive inflow of Karpay energy you have received.

Initiations cannot be given via Zoom. They must be given in person by the P’aqo. There will be a special opportunity for this every two years in our home country of Ireland. Alternatively, groups will be gathered in places where students can all meet and the initiation given there. Each location will be arranged closer to the time in a manner which suits the students.
